Cooks & Soldier’s La Tamborrada Festival 2016

La Tamborrada Spain

Aupa Plancha recently took part in Cooks & Soldier’s 1st annual Tamborrada Festival in Atlanta, GA.  The Tamborrada is a celebratory drum festival held every year on January 20th in the city of San Sebastián, Spain.  At midnight, in the Konstituzio Plaza in the Old Town, the mayor raises the flag of San Sebastián. Participants, dressed as cooks and soldiers, march in companies across the city.  The celebration ends at midnight 24 hours later, when the city flag is lowered. This January 20th, guests enjoyed pintxos (tapas) from various stations throughout Cooks & Soldiers, each highlighting different flavors of Basque country.  And we can’t forget the unlimited txakoli, beer and cider! Chef processions through the dining room, Basque-style dancing and drumming, party favors, and a live stream projection of the celebration in San Sebastián made for an amazing the evening.  The best part of the event was seeing everyone enjoy the tapas cooked on our planchas.   And you couldn’t miss the 250+ red Aupa bandannas that everyone sported during the evening.  This event was such an honor and our stomachs were very happy!

Thank you to all of our Aupa Plancha supporters old and new and most of all to Cooks & Soldiers for letting us take part in such a wonderful celebration!
